Acute Werdnig-Hoffmann disease is heredofamilial degeneration of anterior horn cells in the spinal cord and of motor nuclei in the brain stem, which is clinically characterized by fasciculations of the tongue, paradoxical respiration, bell shaped thorax, frog-leg posture and intact mentality.
